In 2015, Ellen Chivers gained a rather unique job touring the country by narrow boat in two shows with Mikron Theatre Company, on which, she met Rachael Henley and Steve McCourt. They found they worked pretty well together and in 2016, Ellen decided the time was right to pen a story incorporating two of her favourite things; Harry Potter and Prince Harry (pre-Meghan). This resulted in the creation of Royal Hunter, a one woman play about her quest for Prince Harry as a life partner and happening upon his profile on Tinder. Steve collaborated and directed and they had a six-night run at the Camden People’s Theatre during the Camden Fringe that year.
In 2017, Ellen went on holiday to Fuerteventura with her Mum and after witnessing some interesting conversations and antics around the pool, the idea for a play about two women chatting on sunloungers came about. They developed the play over an number of months with Steve once again in the director's chair. In 2018 they did a mini-tour of Vicki and Pat in Fuerteventura during which time they were lucky enough to recruit Charlotte Lund as producer. Duck Decanter Productions was born.
